Yichye Maslama is a 13 year old patient who lives in Beit Jallah. He suffers from kidney disease and has been receiving treatment at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre since he was a year old. During his time in hospital Yichye has become a big fan of Chassidic music. For his birthday this year, Tikva Umarpe, who provide social programmes for our patients made one of his dreams come true. They brought singer Benny Friedman over from America to Shaare Zedek especially for him.
Yichye receives dialysis in our Lesley and Leon Berman Paediatric Dialysis Unit and considers the staff and volunteers of Shaare Zedek and Tikva Umarpe as his extended family. He has developed close relationships with everyone and thanks the head of the department, Professor Yaacov Frishberg, in this interview.
