In the wake of the terror attack on the Armon Hanatziv Promenade on Sunday January 8th, Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s mass casualty response system was immediately called into action , with the hospital preparing to quickly absorb a large number of patients.

Within a short time of the attack,  Shaare Zedek has already treated a total of five victims.

One patient was listed in serious condition making their identification  difficult. The other victims are in  light to moderate condition.

Speaking to reporters outside of the Weinstock Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Ofer Merin, Director of Trauma Services at Shaare Zedek said that the condition of the seriously injured victim had been stabilized but that the patient’s life remained in danger with the medical teams providing ongoing treatment.

As is the protocol in all mass casaulty incidents, the hospital has opened a family support center and hotline to cope with the expected influx of concerned family members.
