On Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Day of Remembrance we remember the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terror. Sadly we have seen too many soldiers and victims of terror in our emergency department whose lives we have been unable to save. Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg who was one of four Rabbi’s brutally murdered in the Har Nof Mascre in 2014 and our own head of Emergency Medicine Dr David Applebaum together with his daughter Naava who tragically lost their lives in September 2003 the evening before Naava’s wedding. In the words of Dr Applebaum ‘Everyone always says “You don’t know what’s going to happen next in the ER”. In Jerusalem, it’s for REAL’.

Today we also launch our Memorial Book campaign, a lovely way to honour the memory of your loved ones by ensuring the health of future generations at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre. https://shaarezedek.org.uk/memorial-book

For a suggested minimum donation of £20 per name we believe our Memorial Book is an affordable and meaningful way to support our special hospital.  For an additional donation we welcome supporters to submit a story about their loved one.

“As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us; as we remember them.”
